Save the Date – The Pre Invitation of Your Wedding
SAVE THE DATE cards work as a pre-invitation that should be sent 6-3 months before the wedding day to allow the guests to have plenty of time for their own plan for the wedding.
Usually, invitations are delivered one month before the event and often, some guests are unable to attend to the wedding due to some previously booked appointments. Sending a SAVE THE DATE card in advance can prevent a very important person for the couple to miss the wedding.
A SAVE THE DATE is more informal than the Wedding Invitation itself. It’s just like a warning. So, do not think you don’t need to send a formal invitation if you send a SAVE THE DATE card.
You must remember to make a list of people who you’ll send the SAVE THE DATE cards to and send them the formal invitations as well, as they should be formally invited to the wedding. This will prevent any further embarrassment.
As this is an informal invitation, you can send it by email or by post (which is more charming). Think about the reaction on the person opening the envelope with your SAVE THE DATE card inside.
On your SAVE THE DATE cards you will have your names, date and place of the wedding – that’s it. You won’t need more than this but you can use your imagination by putting a photo or some phrase that features you as a couple.
It is a good idea to do something quite remarkable, after all, it will be the first announcement of your wedding to your guests.
