Great Tips that really help when choosing the Wedding Dress
Finding the perfect wedding dress is not an easy task, but following some tips can make everything easier for you.
For some brides, choosing the wedding dress is the event of their lives, whereas for others it’s just part of the process for the wedding. Regardless on how it is for you, the fact is: when finding the perfect dress, brides get so happy that the life seems to change!
My wife, Rafaela, is not the type of the dreamy bride, but I can tell that when she found her dress everything changed – she finally got happy and “light”.
Knowing that finding the wedding dress can be something hard and sometimes brides JUST CAN’T FIND the ideal dress, I’ve listed some tips on how to choose the perfect wedding dress for you 😉
Tips for choosing the wedding dress
1 – Buy specialised magazines and make your search on the internet for those models that are appropriate for the season of your wedding day.
2 – The secret to finding the perfect dress is to try and try and try… Do not be lazy to go from shop to shop trying every model you like. Only trying different dresses will you find that maybe some models are not meant for your body type and some other models are exactly what you were looking for (even if you previously did not have that model in mind). This is a good start for you for a better focus on your search for a specific type of dress.
3 – Having a schedule can really make things easier for every bride. If you are still unsure whether to rent, buy or make your dress, start your search as soon possible since finding the perfect dress needs time and if you decide to hire someone to make it for you, the professional might not have enough time to finish it perfectly.
4 – Choose a model that makes you feel comfortable. This will help you not to get tense on the wedding day.
5 – Choose the fabric according to the season. Wearing light fabrics are suitable for daytime weddings. Dresses with heavier fabrics and full of details are indicated for the evening. Lace wedding dresses are suitable for every occasion – you won’t go wrong with it 😉
6 – If you do not want to spend much buying the dress, a custom made one can be a good choice, but remember to choose a professional with good reputation. Often these same professionals have a limited number of ready-made dresses for hire that are much more affordable. Borrowing a dress or adjusting your mom’s dress can also be a good option.
Nowadays zillions of brides have risked buying their wedding dresses from China. Sometimes brides are happy with what they get, but I honestly don’t recommend that. My wife did that and I could see the sadness on her face when she tried it on for the first time (it really broke my heart). If it happens to you, you can still sell it on ebay and maybe that’s exactly the dress someone is looking for
7 – When trying your wedding dress, bring a friend or your mom with you – it’s always good to hear a second opinion. Never bring more than 2 people with you. Many people together can make you confused and you can risk to get a dress that is “not for you”, but for someone else.
8 – When choosing your wedding dress, think about:
– your body type;
– the time of your ceremony (morning, afternoon, evening);
– the season (winter, spring, summer, autumn);
– the style of ceremony (traditional, formal, casual);
– the type of the service (religious, civil);
– your budget;
– and most important: YOUR DREAM!
